Meet Carla N. McKain

Carla N. McKain, principal attorney for McKain Law PLLC, advises and represents clients who are entitled to employee benefits under employer-sponsored plans. She gained experience working with claims related to the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, or ERISA, while clerking for a law firm during law school. After graduating from American University's Washington College of Law, she worked as an associate attorney for several ERISA firms, including Slevin & Hart, P.C., representing trustees in charge of multi-employer benefit plans governed by ERISA.

She renewed her legal work with ERISA-related matters in 2009 when she joined Coughlin & Gerhart, LLP, as an associate. She founded McKain Law PLLC in 2013.

Carla is active in the legal community in and around Ithaca, New York. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Tompkins County Bar Association and the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York, Finger Lakes Chapter. She also currently serves as vice president for the Tompkins County Bar Association.
